Peggy Race is launching a fully illustrated children's book that teaches children about the dangers of puppy mills and how to avoid buying dogs that are sold through them.
Called Deputy Paws and the Puppy Mill Cause the book was inspired by Race's adopted puppy mill rescue dog, Deputy. In the story, Deputy Paws, like thousands of dogs across the United States, is born in a puppy mill. Rescued by the National Mill Dog Rescue, Deputy finds his forever home and begins his mission to help save other dogs from the same sadness he endured as he promotes adoption over buying pets from a store.
"I hope that Deputy's voice will echo in the minds of children as they hear the message shared throughout the pages. I want this book to touch children's hearts as they follow Deputy Paws on his journey from the puppy mill to life in his new home."
At a time when puppy mills are being highlighted in the media, Race believes that Deputy Paws and the Puppy Mill Cause will empower young people to find the tools to plant their own seeds and be a catalyst of change.
Deputy Paws and the Puppy Mill Cause is a book with a strong message, written and illustrated in a child friendly and engaging manner. Race hopes that children will empathize with Deputy's character and share the message that adoption is the right choice.
Race is an avid dog lover with a mission to create a better world for our canine companions. Currently, Race volunteers with Bailing Out Benji, an organization which raises awareness of and educates about puppy mills. Race share her home with three fun loving dogs; Desiree, a Hurricane Katrina rescue; Faith, a ball herding border collie and Deputy, a cocker spaniel mix rescued from a puppy mill.
Deputy Paws and the Puppy Mill Cause is available on Amazon, in both print and Kindle editions. Take the first step in joining Deputy Paws as a defender against puppy mills by purchasing your copy today. A portion of profits from the sale of books will be donated to animal welfare organizations.
